Will You Return Unto the Lord?

Our country has gone through a lot of heartache and turmoil lately. Three hurricanes have wretched havoc on our nation. Just a few weeks ago we had the largest mass shooting in our nation’s history. And last week, 26 precious people gathered together at a church lost their lives. God is trying to get our country’s attention, just like he was trying to get the attention of His people through the prophet Amos. Will America hear God’s call and return to Him? It must start with individuals returning to the Lord! Will you return?

Amos 4:6-9 (KJV)

6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

Verse 8 declares, “…yet have ye not returned unto me saith the Lord.”

America needs to return to God. We must go back to the Bible, the ten commandments, and back to fearing God. Will you return?

They didn’t have a heart for God to ask despite all the headaches, the death, and the famine, but they still didn’t pray and return to God. God allows U-turns. But you must make the choice to return to God.

You can honor God with your lips and your behavior but you have to honor God with your heart. You can come back to God.

God was already there, if you would return to God. If God took David back, the backslider, if he took Peter back, Peter being the one who said he would never deny Him. God will take you back. God says, come back! Come home! Please come back! But like the prodigal son, will you return?

What else will God do to get America’s attention? What else needs to happen before God has your attention?

Will you return, would you run to God tell him your tired of running? Come home!
